The ANARE Ski Club Inc. is an incorporated organisation independent from the ANARE Club. The ski club was formed and the lodge built by returned ANARE expeditioners in the 1960's as a mountain getaway a short distance from Melbourne.

Ski club membership is available for people who have worked in Antarctica.

The ANARE Lodge on Mt Baw Baw is like a 'genteel' field hut for expeditioners who like to catch up over a glass of wine around the fire, winter or summer, or have a family getaway out of the hustle and bustle of the big smoke.

In the winter visitors can ski/snowboard/snowshoe to the ski runs or the plateau trails from the front door of the lodge. For the kids the toboggan run is just 50 metre away.

In summer extensive walking is available. Tracks link to nearby mountains and the Alpine Walking trail linking Walhalla to Mt Kosciuszko. Mt Baw Baw is an ideal base for a Gippsland holiday and is located near the Latrobe Valley. Lakes Entrance in the east or Wilsons Promontory to the south are within a few hours drive.

Mt Baw Baw is located in west Gippsland just over 2 hours north-east of Melbourne (150km).

The 3 level 'A' frame lodge sleeps 14 and is ideal for a couple of families or a group of friends. The lodge enjoys views across the Latrobe Valley and over-looks the ski slopes. Club members enjoy reciprocal rights with the CSIR Ski Club who have lodges at other Victorian resorts.

The lodge is located centrally in the Mt Baw Baw ski village close to restaurant and hotel and a short walk from the carpark.

More information about the Club or booking availability is at www.anareskiclub.org

Discounts apply to ANARE Club members. If you would like to stay at the lodge or would like to know more about becoming a member please contact David Morrison Ph. 04 0008 5549 or Email David.
