… Ivor, you would recall our conversation last season re giving the grave a spruce up. Joe and I had it on our to do list – hadn’t quite got there. Coincidentally just before Christmas, the family contacted SL direct asking whether anything could be done to perhaps mark the 70 anniversary of Johns passing. In short several of the station got behind it, the grave surrounds had a lick and promise, replaced all the rails and one of the team put together the video. We’ve not seen it down here yet (too big to download) so big screen on Friday night. Added a few before and afters for a quick look. I believe there has even been a suggestion of getting the maintenance done annually – scheduled works.
Parks were supportive of the clean-up provided we limited works to painting (no digging). Joe and I still have one small job to do.

To the family of John Windsor,
The team at the AAD marked the 70th anniversary of you father’s passing at Macquarie Island (and in Hobart, with the flag at half-mast) yesterday and have produced a short video to record the occasion. (You may already be aware the team at Macca have recently renovated your father’s grave in preparation for the anniversary).
Your father’s service is not forgotten.
The video can be downloaded at the following link.
