Managing your ANARE Club Membership Profile

Login to your ANARE Account

If you have not already done so, Login to our ANARE Club Members page. Use your email address we have on record as your username. Use your password from the old website or if this does not work or you may have forgotten it, on the login screen, click on “forgotten password”. We will send you an email with your new password but this may take us up to five minutes for it to be received by you (Don’t forget to check your trash folder!). The password we send you is not too user friendly, but you might be using a “Password Manager” which makes it easier or you can change it when you log in to your profile.

Once you are logged in, to bring up your personal profile select “Member Login” in the top right-hand corner. If you are already logged in, this will show “My Account”.

Select “Profile Details” and you will be able to update your personal details including entering your station visits (up to five visits/trips) as well as change your email address, password and contact details. As at writing this article, the update your password is NOT working at the moment but we hope to have this sorted out soon. You can still get an automatice password generated and emailed to you by selecting “Forgotten Password” when you attempt to login. This may take anywhere upto five minutes to be received into your inbox but also don’t forget to also check your SPAM/Trash folder.

Changing your email address will log you out and after about five minutes, you will be able to log back in using your new email address.

* Items preceded with a red asterisk are mandatory fields and must have a valid value/text.

At the bottom of the screen click “Save Changes” to update your changes

NOTE:

There is a glitch where some items will not be changed unless you re-enter your password and confirm your password before they will be accepted. To know if you need to enter your password, check in the password sections. If your main password shows green (strong) or the notice “passwords do not match” – the change is unlikely to have been accepted so re-enter your change and re-enter your password and confirm it.

Antarctic Service

You may also now update your own Antarctic service for up to 5 visits/trips. The first one has been available since we went live on the new website, but now I’ve included four more sections to capture your data.

Antarctic Station, Antarctic Year and Antarctic Season are dropdown selections. Job Description is a “free Text field” for you to type in your role. The additional four trips can be entered under Antarctic Station 2, 3, 4 and 5. These will appear if you answered Yes for “If you stayed at other Australian Stations or been on another trip”.

I agree to show my profile to other logged in members.

This provides permission for us to display some of your profile details to ONLY current logged in Members. You may tick this box to allow us to make some of your details visible to our Members but it is not mandatory for you to share this information nor to tick this box. This is not visible to the public.

For privacy reasons we do not show address or contact details, unless you have entered your Facebook or Instagram URL or your own website URL.

There is a free Text box for you to use, if you wish to write a note or means for people to contact you. The ANARE Club does not administer or maintain this field and it is up to the Member who typed it in to keep it current. To other Members, this information may not be reliable or may be out of date.

Profile Picture

This is not mandatory, but if you would like to upload an image for your Profile Picture, this will be displayed against your profile for our admin staff and also if you have allowed us to show your profile to other logged in Members.

Click on the Upload button, navigate on your own PC to where the image is stored and select the image. Depending on the size of the file will depend on how long it takes to load.

As the image is loading you will be presented with these circling dots (to the left) until the image is displayed for adjusting:

You will now be presented with a window to centre your image. You can now select the image to position this better within the bright window by dragging the image around

The large + and – makes your image larger or smaller
The smaller + and – inside the magnifying glass zooms in and out at smaller increments
The curved arrows rotate the image in increments left or right.
The “Crop” symbol DOES NOT crop the image but accepts the image as complete as does pressing “Enter” on your keyboard.

Re-enter your password and select Save Changes

Navigating to Members Profiles

To view yours and other people’s profiles, whilst logged in, there are two ways to get there.

Select Member Content from the very top three menu items and scroll down on the Members Content Page to “Our Active Members” and view Directory (whilst here you may also want to catch up on your reading of past and current Auroras.)

OR hover over Members on the top main menu and then select Members Directory

Members Directory

You will now be taken to our Members Directory page. In the “Search field” you are now able to search on Station, Year, First Name, Last Name (BUT ONLY ONE SEARCH QUERY at a time). This does not allow comma separated search variables.
