With much sadness, the ANARE Club advises the passing of Rick Burbury on Sunday 13 April 2025.
The ANARE Club extends its condolences to Rick’s family and friends.
A memorial service for Rick will be held on Tuesday 29th April at 12.30 pm in Melbourne at
the Bunurong Memorial Park, 790 Frankston – Dandenong Road, Dandenong South in a space called the Sanctuary.

Rick Burbury
Just to let you know the sad news that Rick Burbury passed away on Sunday 13 April 2025 at home with his wife Julie by his side. Many of you will remember Rick for his various roles with the Antarctic Division including many Marine Science voyages and resupplies. A memorial service for Rick is being held on Tuesday 29th April at 12.30 pm in Melbourne at the Bunurong Memorial Park, 790 Frankston – Dandenong Road, Dandenong South in a space called the Sanctuary.
Rick Perrin
Rick was a Science Support Officer at the Australian Antarctic Division 1980–2000, and Deputy Voyage Leader on many voyages including the maiden voyage of Aurora Australis, and Nella Dan’s last voyage when she ran aground at Macquarie Is. Rick was Science Equipment Officer on marine science voyages between 1980 and 1994.
