RSV Nuyina rings in the New Year at Casey
Ringing in the new year at the stroke of midnight! On board the RSV Nuyina at Casey Station.
From the ANARE Club Facebook site:
“Take a bow, ANARE Club members! The magnificent Nuyina bell was a gift to the ship (and the AAD) by YOUR CLUB. So absolutely wonderful to see this tradition kept alive. (The bell was cast and donated by Olds Engineering, Maryborough, Qld). Great teamwork.”
From the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) Facebook site:
“Happy New Year from the MUA. Here is an old seafaring tradition of the oldest seafarer on board ringing out the year on the ships bell and then the youngest seafarer ringing in the new year at the stroke of midnight! On board the RSV Nuyina at Casey Station, Australian Antarctic Territory”
